FirmGreen® Extends Its Leadership in Renewable Fuels
with PlasmaTech Deal
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – NOV. 14, 2007— Today, FirmGreen, Inc.
(FGI) announces completion of an agreement with PlasmaTech Caribbean Corporation
(PlasmaTech) to become FirmGreen’s exclusive sub-Licensee of CO2
Wash® technology for the Caribbean region. Under this agreement, PlasmaTech
has placed on order a CO2 Wash unit for a biogas to fuels project located
in Puerto Rico.
The project will utilize CO2 Wash technology to process 300 standard
cubic feet per minute (scfm) of biogas from an anaerobic digester into
BioMethane. When construction is completed, the facility will provide
cleaned methane (natural gas), representing the first facility domestically
producing renewable methane on the island. Pure carbon dioxide (CO2) recovered
from the process will be used in an area greenhouse to enhance crop production.
In March of 2006, FirmGreen reached an agreement with PlasmaTech Caribbean
Corporation of San Juan, Puerto Rico to be its exclusive representative
for projects in the Caribbean. They are currently evaluating several potential
projects for the region.
“We are very pleased to have PlasmaTech as our partner in the Caribbean
region.” Steve Wilburn, President & CEO of FGI states, “Their
leadership in this region is complementary to our market in North America
and promotes the development and growth of both companies.”
Enrique J. Ruiz, PlasmaTech Sales & Marketing VP says, “Our
partnership with FirmGreen Energy allows us to expand our capabilities
to provide environmentally sound recycling and clean renewable energy
solutions throughout the Caribbean region and Latin America. As the world
moves to address the Global Warming issue, a technology like the CO2 Wash
provides an excellent alternative to properly manage one of the principal
man-made sources of greenhouse gases, which is the uncontrolled release
of biogas from landfills, as well as provide a cleaner fuel in the form
of Compressed Natural Gas.”
Unlike traditional energy production facilities, which pollute in the
process of producing energy, FirmGreen’s patented and proprietary
landfill gas clean up technology results in improved air quality by utilizing
landfill methane and CO2 as its feedstock for energy and fuel production.
